Information Security Career Study
Thank you for expressing interest in participating in our research survey.
The initial phase was a success and we are continuing to gather data in a second phase.
Your feedback is important to us in helping to measure career attitudes within the Information Security profession. Participation in this survey is completely voluntary and should take no more than 10 minutes to complete. The first ten questions on demographics are optional, but we ask that you complete them as this information will help us identify patterns in our results.
Instructions for Participants
Potential participants must register a valid, individual email address by sending a voluntary consent response to firstname.lastname@example.org or completing the Contact form on this site. Upon receipt of the consent, the survey administrator will register the email address and provide a hyperlink to finalize account creation and then complete the survey. Multiple responses will not be permitted for this survey. If you register, please take the survey, we are pay a licensing fee per registrant, even if the survey is not completed.
Note: the survey hosting company REQUIRES specific registration. We, on the other hand, do not care about this information; therefore, feel free to exercise caution with providing real information. Pseudonyms and "throwaway" email addresses are welcome (as long as you have access to the address for our response, as it will include your survey link).
Data Collection Practices
The survey administrator will be able to determine which email addresses have completed the survey; however, the responses will be sanitized of all personally identifiable information prior to analysis. Survey and participant data collected will be retained online for a period of no greater than 6 months while the survey is administered. After the conclusion of the survey participation period, data will be purged from online servers and moved offline for a period of no greater than 24 months using offline storage to prevent tampering or exposure of data. All offline data will be encrypted. Anonymized demographic survey results will analyzed and presented or published in appropriate venues, but individual raw data responses will never be published. Phase one was open from January 1, 2012 through February 15, 2012. Phase Two is currently open, with a tentative close date of June 30, 2012. The responses will be tabulated and presented in future Information Security conferences.
Who Are We?
A small, United States-based group within the Information Security community is soliciting participants to complete a short survey regarding career attitudes within the information security industry. The responses to this survey will be used to measure career attitudes in information security in relation to other occupations and industries, such as healthcare, academia, and manufacturing.
